about

This soundscape was originally recorded & released in 2001 as a one hour ambient nap-time CD for kids called 'Sweet Dreamworld'. It's an improvised piece using three primary notes in a descending succession of perfect 4ths with various improvised embellishments. This shorter version was remastered later, in reverse, with added reverberation.

NOTE: The melodic idea for this came to me in 1977 in a meditative state. It had a calming effect on me. The first recording I made with this idea was in 1984. (I used to hum this three-note-melody to my kids to help them into dreamland. Truth be told, I later used this 3-note sequence in the melodic theme for another piece I wrote called ‘Southpaws Unite” -- believe it or not…)

But yeah, this particular recording is based on one 6 minute sequence repeated four times, along with short segue breaks between, while improvising over it.
