ABOUT THIS COLLECTION: The Empty Set was the main focus in songwriting here as I worked on new material in my 8-track analog farm studio. Many of these songs were composed while working in lawn service, each specific to the lawns I cut -- believe it or not. I’d continue where I left off, week after week, detailing them in my mind, mowing away, with no regard to the meaning of commercial success or who my audience might truly be.

Tons of compression was used, naïve eq settings, extreme reverberations with plenty of premixing as each track was recorded
song by song. I used this production method as I didn't own much in the way of outboard gear for post-mixdown at that time. Consequently, there was little that could be done to repair said damage in these final mixes.

I would also note that I often close miced just one speaker on the Roland JC-120 for many of my Guild S-300 guitar tracks, foolishly, as
the 'built in chorus' was in fact stereo. This gave an interesting lopsided resulting wobble. I also used an MXR envelope filter on several guitar tracks to create a 'barmp-wa' tone, as well as the built in repeat-switch on my 1966 electric Vox Starstream 12-string guitar.

This collection was recorded from 1988 thru 1989 with a few extra dubs in the early 1990's. Master tapes were digitized then mixed & mastered on audio software at irregular intervals from January thru October 2021.
